I enjoy writing ALT text, and pride myself on creating vivid image descriptions for the visually impaired community, when my disabilities cooperate. I often treat the ALT text field as an extension of my article, or other writings. Occasionally, I add things there, that are not in the body of the writing. I believe strongly in ,cross disability support/solidarity and accommodation, specific to one’s disability.
With that said, there are days my mind will not cooperate. If something is posted without ALT text, or the description is very simple, I’m likely experiencing my own disability related limitations. On those days, I ask for your accommodation, by cutting me a break. Feel free to gently let me know that I posted an image without ALT text, and I’ll be happy to make corrections.
ALT text on the blog is entered for each image when they are uploaded. Once I publish an article with an image, I do not seem to see the description. Though, I began writing at an early age, I’m new to blogging, and still learning how to drive this thing. If you experience any issue with seeing ALT text on any of the images here, please let me know. Including and accommodating people with all disabilities as they require, is a big part of the message behind OutOfExile_IDR. If I did not include ALT text, that belief would be as meaningless, as an image without descriptions, to those without sight. I hope you enjoy the image descriptions, and the articles that accompany them.
